Janet BengeJanet Benge has spent most of her career as a freelance costume designer in the television industry. Six years ago, she took up painting and now paints on a regular basis. She has exhibited in several small group exhibitions as well as Open exhibitions such as the Hertford Open where she won the Bill Dale Award in 2010. Her preferred medium is acrylic. She also enjoys using mixed media and experimenting with grounds and has recently taken up screen-printing. She has written, illustrated and submitted several children's books that, as yet, have not been snapped up by a discerning publisher. She is inspired by everyday observation and considers herself lucky to have access to the multitudinous galleries of London. Her current most admired artists are Barbara Rae, Joan Eardley, John Bellany, Georges Rouault and Gwen John. |
