Jenna WatkinsJenna Watkins specialises in horse portraits in her preferred medium of acrylic paint or pencil drawing format. Jenna has always loved drawing and painting, but took a different path at university to study Fashion Design at The London College of Fashion and has spent her twenties pursuing a career as a garment technologist for several multiple high street retailers, which she continues to do so, before rediscovering art again this year. Jenna is self taught and has always had a passion for painting as well as a passion for horses. Due to her commitment to a horse she shared for many years, Jenna’s painting has taken a back seat until recently, when the horse was retired. So now Jenna has the time to combine her two original passions in life; art and horses. Jenna says of her pictures ‘I like to show the beauty of the animal by dramatically highlighting the features through shade and light, a bit like a fashion beauty shoot in a glossy magazine. I also try to bring in the character of the animal, the little things; a soft muzzle, a kind eye – the parts of the face that the owner knows all to well but are not always brought out in the photos they take’. Jenna is also a friend of the Society of Equestrian Artists. |
